According to a report out of Variety, ABC has given a third season to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and a second season to Agent Carter. Other than their renewal, there have been no other details. This terrific news comes the week after Marvel’s gigantic blockbuster, Age of Ultron, is #1 at the box office and showing no signs of slowing down.

Presumably, the third season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will still involve the Inhumans as they don’t seem to be going anywhere, though Captain America: Civil War will come right at the end of that season, a year from now, so surely they’ll have to deal with some of that fall out. There’s no telling where Agent Carter will go, though presumably it will feature the same cast and hopefully give us Peggy Carter now acting as one of the heads of the S.S.R. Maybe they’ll even call it S.H.I.E.L.D. now.

Sadly, however, the brakes were put on the spin-off show that was to star Adrienne Palicki and Nick Blood. The second season, which has already been filmed, was supposed to set that show up, but now, instead, we’ll just have an awkward moment where the characters stories are not as resolved as they could have been.
