ADVENTURE TIME: FIONNA AND CAKE Renewed for Season 2 at Max

Highlights

• Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake has been renewed for a second season at Max.
• The first season of the spinoff series follows Fionna the Human and Cake the Cat as they come into their own as heroes.

Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake Season 2

On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, it was announced that Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake has been renewed for season 2. The young adult animated series follows the titular protagonists as they discover there are other worlds than their own. 

Season 1 of the Adventure Time spinoff followed Fionna the Human (Madeleine Martin) and Cake the Cat (Roz Ryan) as they come into their own as heroes. Over the course of Adventure Time, the duo were presumed to be fanfic versions of Finn the Human (Jeremy Shada) and Jake the Dog (John DiMaggio). Everyone assumed these characters were created by the Ice King (Tom Kenny).

However, their final appearance on Adventure Time hinted the true nature of their existence was more complex. Fionna and Cake were actually created by Prismo the Wishmaster (Sean Rohani in this series, Kumail Nanjiani in Adventure Time). But because Wishmasters aren’t meant to make their own creations, he hid their universe in what he believed to be a safe place: Ice King’s head.

However, Ice King was restored to his original form, Simon Petrikov, in the Adventure Time series finale. Consequently, Fionna and Cake‘s world was affected. No longer living in a copy of Ooo, our heroes escaped from their reality to meet Simon and visit Ooo. At the conclusion of the first season, they have returned to their homeworld.
