Brides of Dracula is coming to ABC

ABC is getting in on the supernatural game with new series The BridesThe Brides is a reimagined story of  Dracula.  ABC made the announcement at The Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Pasadena.

The Brides of Dracula, known as the “sisters” are in Bram Stoker‘s horror novel, Dracula.  Like Dracula, the sisters are undead and have the same seductive powers.  The sisters appear in most Dracula movies, such as the 1960 sequel to Dracula, The Brides of Dracula. Like most vampires, the brides don’t live forever.

Deadline states the drama is “a vampire soap opera about empowered, immortal women and the things they do to maintain wealth, prestige, legacy — and their nontraditional family.”  And yes, Count Dracula will make an appearance or two.

Riverdale creator/executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa wrote the series. Gregg Berlanti  and Sarah Schechter, from Berlanti Productions will produce along with Maggie Kiley. Kiley will direct the pilot.

This is the first announced development for the 2020-2021 television season for ABC.  It sounds like an interesting concept. And with Berlanti involved, I’m sure it will be a hit!  I’m actually excited about this one.
