Out of Variety late yesterday comes news that ABC has, apparently, ordered a pilot for an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off, called Marvel’s Most Wanted, that would center around Mockingbird, a.k.a. Bobbi Morse, a character played by Adrianne Palicki.
Well, not necessarily a “spin-off” as Variety says, “but rather an entirely new project solely focused on the two characters to continue their story.” It would star both Palicki and Nick Blood as Agent Lance Hunter and would “follow the pair and their adventures together.”
We also got word that S.H.I.E.L.D. producers Jeff Bell and Paul Zbyszewski will showrun the series and write the pilot while also serving as Executive Producers along with Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb.
It should be pointed out that a Pilot Orders does not mean the series will ever see the light of day, only that the network is interested in seeing the show for consideration. It’s also completely unclear when they would want to start airing this, but at the earliest we could expect it would be during the Winter season of 2016, early next year, when the second half of S.H.I.E.L.D. picks up.
Though we didn’t have a name at the time, the series was initially heard about back in April of this year, but was soon out of the running. However, as Variety points out, with Season 3 of S.H.I.E.L.D. starting up and season 2 of Agent Carter, it appears ABC is hungry for more Marvel content.
May as well feed all us nerds while we’re at the table and begging, right?
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will premiere it’s third season September 29th.
