Avatar Studios, led by original creators and producers Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, was first unveiled in 2021. They announced an “Avatar universe” across multiple TV series, films, and platforms. Since then, they revealed their projects would start with three films.
For anyone unfamiliar, Avatar: The Last Airbender follows a 12-year-old monk named Aang as he travels the world mastering the elements to defeat the evil Fire Nation. The original show premiered on Nickelodeon in 2005 and gained renewed attention with its addition to Netflix last year. The show generated a sequel series, The Legend of Korra, along with books, graphic novels and a recent Netflix reboot.
