The first full trailer for Disney‘s live action Aladdin is here and it is beautiful. Well, the scenery and the costumes are beautiful. Agrabah is vibrant with color, Jasmine’s dresses are dazzling, and the cave of wonders is just as memorizing.
The trailer showcases the exotic culture of Agrabah and its people. We get to see the moment Aladdin (Mena Massoud) lays eyes on Jasmine (Naomi Scott), Jafar (Marwan Kenzari) lead Aladdin to the Cave of Wonders, and the genie (Will Smith) emerging from the lamp. It’s so fun to watch this animated classic come to life. We even get to see the animal friends, Abu, Rajah, and Iago, voiced by the multi talented Alan Tudyk!
No one will ever compare to the Robin Williams’ version, but Smith will definitely bring flare to the role. You haven’t seen Smith like this. At least they toned down the blue overlay. The genie will be the major difference and deciding factor for the success of this movie. But just look at this poster!
Aladdin also stars Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen and Numan Acar. John August wrote the script with Guy Ritchie who also directed the film. Watch the trailer below.
When a street urchin finds a lamp with a genie inside, he uses the lamp to turn himself into a prince in order to win the heart of a beautiful princess. But an evil vizier is after the lamp too.
Aladdin flies into theaters on May 24, 2019.
