Get ready, fighters!  A Street Fighter TV series, based on the iconic game franchise, is in the works.  Anybody that’s been to an arcade in the last 30 years should be just a little bit excited about this.  Because, though it’s not the first time there’s been an attempt at an adaptation… it might just be the best.

The series will be based on the World Warrior story-arc from Street Fighter II.  This series is inspired by, and will draw directly from the live-action web series Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist.  The creators of Assassins FistJoey Ansah, Jacqueline Quella and Mark Wooding will be executive producing the new series.

The new series will center on four protagonists:  Ryu, Ken, Guile and Chun-Li.  They will work together to take down none-other than M. Bison himself.  Deadline reported Friday that, “Though on different journeys, our heroes’ paths will cross as they are drawn into the World Warrior Tournament, a competition devised by M. Bison to find the most powerful and capable fighter in the world. On the journey they come to share, they must draw on their strength, skills, intelligence and loyalty in a battle to survive and emerge as the World Warrior.”
