Kicking off the holiday weekend must-read list is David Verburg and Yeajin Shin’s A Practical Guide to Evil. The story is adapted from creator G. Galen Mayhew’s work and falls into the fantasy action category. The story follows Catherine Foundling, an orphan given an opportunity to change everything. Set in a fantasy world wrecked by turmoil and death, one must do what one can to survive, from the top of the food chain to the bottom.

A Practical Guide to Evil is a new addition to the WEBTOON family, but it quickly made its way onto our must-read list. It wasted no time building a fantasy world and backstory that is exciting and mysterious. Catherine is a character we want to continue to watch grow. It also has great action that works well with the chosen art style. The fight scenes fly off the screen and will keep you on your toes. This is a series rated for young adults, so be mindful before starting this one.

A Practical Guide to Evil updates every Tuesday. Readers can find it on the official WEBTOON page.

Paranoid Mage

Paranoid Mage WEBTOON Original Series.

Our second series is InadvisablyCompelled and Kisai Entertainment’s Paranoid Mage. This action series has fantasy and supernatural elements. The story follows Callum, a young man who has spent his life seeing strange things. Things like monsters and people performing magic. After an unfortunate event takes place at his gym, Callum learns that he has quite a lot in common with these strange people. Except he doesn’t want to and is going to do everything he can to keep it that way.

Paranoid Mage is another series that does a great job of meshing action with other genres. The fantasy and supernatural elements work well alongside the real-life feeling the story is going for. Watching the two worlds collide as Callum lives between them gives this series a real-life fantasy feel. The action is exciting, and again, like our first series, this is hugely part of the chosen art style. And like the other, this is a series rated for young adults, so tread carefully.

Paranoid Mage updates every Tuesday. Readers can find it on the official WEBTOON page.
