My friend, Jess, loves tabletop games. He is very knowledgeable and loves talking about them any time he can. I have learned over the years that when he gets tipsy, he becomes more passionate, if not more articulate, on these subjects. With that in mind, I have started a series where I get Jess drunk, and then coax him into talking about what he likes and dislikes with regard to board games and other tabletop topics.

In this video, I asked Jess to enlighten us all about the different editions of the beloved classic role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons. If you are interested in getting into this great nerdy phenomenon that has entertained dorks like me for almost 50 years, then look no further for an honest view of where to get started. And if you are a full grizzled grognard, you’ll probably find some good discussion with opinions you share or oppose. (I KNOW you have your thoughts about what Dungeons & Dragons edition is best/sucks). So put on your nerd seatbelts and enjoy this drunken geek fest.

Watch as Jess drunkenly works his way through every edition of Dungeons & Dragons, the beloved role-playing system designed by Gary Gygax. Jess’s insights are sharp even when his words are a little slurred. Our drink of choice was Old Rasputin from North Coast Brewing Co.
