50 Wise Quotes from the Star Wars Universe

“Life is not without pain, but life concerns itself with how we handle that pain, or joy, or confusion, or triumph. Life is more than time passing before death; it is the sum and total of all we make of it.” — Elegos A’Kla (I, Jedi, a novel by Michael A. Stackpole).

Star Wars made its debut on May 25th, 1977 with A New Hopeand has left the world spellbound and starstruck ever since. The epic stories, captivating characters, and immense universe have yielded some of the most striking and unforgettable lines in fictional history. The legacy of Star Wars has expanded far beyond the original trilogy and prequels; there are now video games, television shows, novels, and comics that contribute to the immense, kaleidoscopic Star Wars mythology. These licensed stories outside of the original trilogy and prequels are referred to as Star Wars Legends (previously known as the Expanded Universe). However, animated series such as Star Wars Rebels and The Clone Wars are official canon.

Two of the most successful Star Wars video games were Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords by the legendary RPG developer Bioware. The cast of characters is vibrant and dynamic; both Light Side and Dark Side wisdom is imparted to the player with equal impact. In fact, it evokes questions of what being a Jedi or a Sith truly means. Here are some examples:

“Inevitably, love is going to lead to as much sorrow and regret as it does joy. How you deal with the bad part of love determines your character, what determines the dark side’s hold over you.” — Jolee Bindo

And here is one that is not included on the infographic, but deserves appreciation:

“To believe in an ideal, is to be willing to betray it. It is something no Sith or Jedi has ever truly learned.” — Kreia.
