Welcome to Tavern Talk Thursday! We are expanding! What started as a column dedicated to chatting with members of the TTRPG community is growing to talk about all things TTRPG. We aim to continue sharing everything we love about the community and all the content within. So, consider this a little peek into our favorite worlds and creators as we explore everything we love.

If there is something we love just as much as TTRPGs, its WEBTOON series. In fact, our Saturday Morning Webtoons column is dedicated to sharing two series every week for readers to enjoy. The platform features stories from all genres, including fantasy, action, supernatural and more that tie into the TTRPG world. Some of our favorite series fit nicely into top must-reads simply because they remind us so much of our playing at the table. Are you looking for something new to read and want to stick with TTRPG-esque works? Check out five of our favorites.

TTRPG-Esque WEBTOONs to Read

Lady Knight

Our first TTRPG-esque WEBTOON series is Lion Illustration’s Lady Knight. The fantasy WEBTOON follows Aurora, who is sent to an elite academy when she discovers a terrible curse marks her. Here, she learns to control her dangerous abilities alongside those the curse has marked. The catch is that she is the only girl. It features incredible fantasy elements, giving us the found-family feeling while playing with our friends and family. This is an excellent read for those who love TTRPGs based in academies.

Dungeons & Artifacts

We know a series will give us the TTRPG feels when the summary includes an explorer who spends his time doing dungeon-guiding gigs. Zerowater and UMKY’s Dungeons & Artifacts follows Stetch Atelier, a name we would choose for our character, as he makes a deal with a sentient artifact. It is an epic journey, slaying monsters, meeting new friends and enemies, and tons of dungeons. The series is great for those looking for an action series to dive into.

The Witch and The Bull

Not every adventure needs an entire group of people. Some of our favorite TTRPG adventures only included a handful of people around the table. Moonsia’s The Witch and The Bull may only see Tan and Aro making their way across the world, but it is one of our favorite adventures. Add in the beautifully crafted world with magic, and we’re sold. In fact, if anyone creates a world or any classes based on the series, send them right over. We want to be a magic-wielding witch who brings the constellations to life.

Shiloh

Sometimes, we want to be a group of misunderstood people with secrets, angst and drama. We want to be just like the band of misfits from Kit Trace and Kate Flynn’s Shiloh. This is a thriller WEBTOON series for those players who like their characters on the morally gray to downright bad side. It’s packed with characters who all have something to hide and something to gain from the people around them, leaving them to rely on each other, sometimes against their better judgment. But they are a family through and through, and we love it.

Here There Be Dragons

Our final TTRPG-esque series is Disteal and Steve Horton’s Here There Be Dragons. This is one of those series that screams, “Let us take you on an adventure.” It follows Bree, a Dragonspeaker, and her team of young knights as they save an ancient dying dragon. The series has adventure, magic, a band of travelers heading on a mission to save the world and dragons. It’s a must-read series for those who play TTRPGs and for those who don’t.
