I didn’t think I could get more excited for Deadpool 2. Yesterday, Fox released a brand new teaser for the film, highlighting his new compadre, Cable. Since the first film, the promotion has been brilliantly filled with references and this trailer is no different. We’ve picked out 5 of the many in there.

The gun that goes to 11

In a brief glimpse, we can see Cable fiddling with his gun. On one of the settings, we see that it goes all the way up to 11. A very clear reference to This is Spinal Tap where their speakers go up to 11. It’s a quick and fun reference that people don’t need comic knowledge to get.

Wade embraces his inner Toy Story

While “Dale” works on finishing Cable’s arm in special effects, Deadpool takes over to re-enact a scene. Paper model and all! But when the special effects are done, he drops the toys and we can see he’s written his name on the feet of the dolls. He even wrote a backwards letter to really embrace that “Andy” signature.

While Deadpool is playing with his toys (I mean re-creating a scene!), there’s something in the background. Deadpool wanted to keep his beautiful Bob Ross-inspired art that he kept it, happily displaying it in his home. I’m never going to be over that ad so I’m happy to see it make a reappearance.

Nothing wrong with duct tape!

A really funny detail is also a character detail. We can see while Deadpool is escaping some sort of facility, he may be really lazy with his suit. And by may be we mean he really is. With all the bullet holes and stab marks, Wade just tapes the suit back up with a bit of duct tape. It’s really lazy but mostly funny!

Wade’s Chunk?

At the end of the trailer, we can see Wade wearing a floral shirt. That shirt looks pretty familiar to Chunk in The Goonies! And to further that reference, Josh Brolin was in that film. So really, it’s just full circle, is it not?

Well those are our picks! Tell us your favorite easter eggs/things missed in the comments! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more Deadpool fun. Check out the new teaser (and hilarious synopsis) below as well!
