They say laughter is the best medicine…Stop! I can hear you groaning out there…but hear me out. The world is confusing and maybe a little scary right now—we need to relieve that tension somehow (get your mind out of the gutter). Comedy can help us feel less alone, which is why it’s so great that many late night talk show hosts are keeping the lights on at their shows—at home. Here are five of our favorite comics practicing social distancing!
1. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
Jimmy Fallon says he will shoot web shorts from home every day for as long as quarantines are imposed and that every night will be used as a donation boost for a different charity. I’m not sure how hilarious these snippets are, but it’s cute to see his family pitching in as camera ops and graphics people.
2. Jimmy Kimmel Live
Jimmy Kimmel has committed to shooting a “minilogue” daily until his show gets back. Like Fallon’s, Kimmel’s kids are providing graphics and he’s supporting a different charity daily. Turns out, for Kimmel, one of the upsides of this whole isolation is that there’s no barista to spell your name wrong when you make your own coffee.
3. Team Coco
Some, like Conan O’Brien, are offering up useful advice, such as “how to sanitize jigsaw puzzles in boiling water.” All joking aside, you should regularly clean your children’s toys.
4. The Daily Show with Trevor Noah
Trevor Noah also popped by for a quick PSA about disinfecting surfaces in our homes…but I’d recommend going to the CDC for cleaning tips.
5. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
Stephen Colbert spewing jokes from the tub in his bathing suit. That is all.
I hope these clips of comics practicing social distancing can bring you a bit of bright light during this time. Stay healthy out there!
