The upcoming undead sequel 28 Years Later has added Erin Kellyman to its cast. The movie heralds the arrival of a new trilogy set in the world of the zombie franchise, which originated with 2002’s 28 Days Later.
Along with the Resident Evil franchise, the 2002 release of 28 Days Later is recognized as a catalyst for the decade-long zombie revival. This revival included movies like 2004’s Shaun of the Dead. It also included novels like 2006’s World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War and shows like 2010’s The Walking Dead.
28 Years Later
28 Days Later was directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland. It was followed by a sequel, 28 Weeks Later, in 2007. That year, Boyle stated he and Garland had ideas for a third movie, 28 Months Later. This movie never came to fruition. But in spite of the failure of the third movie to launch, the franchise remained present in the public pop cultural consciousness.

Next year, 28 Years Later aims to exhume the narrative and revive it with a new trilogy. The first entry in the planned trilogy will be directed by Boyle and written by Garland. The second will be directed by Nia DaCosta (The Marvels).
Meanwhile, if you are a fan of onscreen genre storytelling, you’re most likely already familiar with Kellyman. She previously appeared on the big screen in Solo: A Star Wars Story as the memorable villain Enfys Nest. Later, she appeared as Winnifred in The Green Knight. And later still, she appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Karli Morgenthau in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Her casting in 28 Years Later was reported by Deadline.
