Lore

Host Aaron Mahnke focuses on real like scary stories. This bi-weekly podcast examines historical events that show the dark side of human nature and is presented in a style that’s been compared to a campfire experience. The only bummer is you need to bring your own marshmallows.

Binge the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and iHeartRadio.

Video Palace

Monster, cults and weird tapes, oh my! One of my personal favorites is Video Palace which follows a young couple’s investigation into the origins of a mysterious VHS tape and the infamous video store from which it came.

Dive into the mystery via Player FM, Apple Podcasts and Shudder!

Inside the Exorcist

Arguably one of the most frightening movies ever made comes in the form of William Friedkin’s The Exorcist. And one of the most profitable. If you love this movie as much as I do then it’s crucial you listen to Wondery’s Inside the Exorcist, a seven-part deep dive inspired by the story behind the unforgettable, classic movie.

Inside the Exorcist can be heard on Spotify, Google Podcasts and Apple Podcasts.

Dr. Death

We’re at our most vulnerable when we go to our doctors. We trust the person at the other end of that scalpel. We trust the hospital. We trust the system. But sometimes our trust falls on people will ill intentions. Or who are simply incompetent. Also from Wondery comes Dr. Death and it’s definitely not for the faint of heart.

Dr. Death tells the story of of Christopher Duntsch, a Texas “surgeon” who was convicted of gross malpractice after thirty-one of his patients were left seriously injured after he operated on them. It also tells of two patients that died during surgery and how he flew under the radar for so long.

Cryptids

Another personal favorite of mine and an essential listen is newcomer Cryptids! It tells the story of a conspiracy radio show host and an avid listener who go in search of an afterlife. Instead they find a truth beyond their wildest nightmares. In this female driven, scripted, sci-fi audio drama, you’ll meet monsters, aliens…and the ultimate grim reaper.

Cryptids is a production of Wild Obscura Films and is available to listen on Stitcher, Spotify and Apple Podcasts

Carrier

More thrilling audio fiction can be found in Carrier. The podcast begs the question of what happens when a truck driver picks up a loaded trailer, but has no idea what’s really inside? The audience is strongly advised to use caution, wear headphones if possible, and listen… carefully. Very carefully.

Learn what’s in the trailer on Stitcher and Spotify!

Ghost Town

In Ghost Town hosts Jason Horton and Rebecca Leib discuss and explore some of the most mysterious and interesting places on earth. Take a trip to haunted hotels, abandoned malls, deserted amusement parks, locations of infamous true crimes, and more.

Binge Ghost Town on Stitcher, Apple Podcast and Spotify!

Passenger List

A missing flight, a vigilante style investigation, a possible cover up orchestrated by the government, honestly what more could you ask for in a podcast? Passenger List follows Kaitlin Le (Kelly Marie Tran) on her investigation into Atlantic Flight 702, a plane that disappeared mid-flight between London and New York with 256 passengers on board. Among those passengers was Kaitlin’s twin brother.

Uncover the truth on Passenger List’s offical website, Spotify and Stitcher!

Unwell: A Midwestern Gothic Mystery

Unwell: A Midwestern Gothic Mystery is an underrated gem in the form of a fiction podcast about conspiracies, ghosts, and unusual families of blood and choice.

The story follows Lillian Harper, who moves to the small town of Mt. Absalom, Ohio, to care for her estranged mother Dorothy after an injury. Living in the town’s boarding house which has been run by her family for generations, she discovers conspiracies, ghosts, and a new family in the house’s strange assortment of residents.
