Horror has a newly adapted face, and it’s handcuffed to a bed. Netflix released the trailer for its new film adaptation of Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game on Wednesday and it’s going to mess with your head. The tag line for the trailer is, “Breaking free will require more than keeping her sanity.” That is an understatement.
Carla Gugino stars as a woman who is left handcuffed to her bed when an innocent little bondage game between spouses ends in the unexpected death of her husband (Bruce Greenwood). This is a nightmare, in a nightmare, in a nightmare. And, if you’ve read the book, you know it doesn’t stop there.
The trailer does a really good job of bringing an aesthetic to the inner and outer horror of one of King’s scariest stories. And, I’m sure every one of you will think twice before getting kinky after watching it. Or at least get your heart checked first.
Gerald’s Game is set to start streaming on Netflix September 29th.
