Anytime you move, you’ve gotta reevaluate what you keep, what you bring with you and what shiny new bits your new home requires of you — and Supergirl’s Season Two production move from CBS, in Los Angeles, to The CW in Vancouver is no different. No cast has been excused or let go, but they are adding two new series regulars and three new recurring roles, as announced today.

What are those roles?

Well, first of all, they all seem to pull some deep cuts from DC Comics — not all of them, but a few. Also, it should be noted, none of them seem to be super-powered heroes, villains or beings of any other sort — just normal, everyday people living in a world where a super strong woman from another planet can fly and a man hit with lightning can run really fast.

Let’s start with the series regulars.

First up, Lena Luthor, sister to her more famous brother, Lex Luthor.  According to TV Line, Lena left Metropolis to “get out from under the shadow” of her older brother. They are looking for a woman 25-35 years old, and is “smart, sexy and determined.” This, of course, makes us wonder if she will replace Max Lord as the National City evil genius, but our guess is that she will simply work alongside him.

Nick Farrow, the other series regular, is described as a new “leading man” type, son to a famous reporter who joins CatCo, presumably following in his fathers footsteps. The copy for his character also says “In hanging out with Kara, the hero in Nick might finally come out.”

The first of the recurring roles is Snapper Carr, described as a “veteran journalist appointed by Cat Grant to remake the news division by going old school.” There’s a direct correlation to a character in the comics here, Lucas “Snapper” Carr, who has worked alongside the Justice League.

What makes this news interesting is that Calista Flockhart is rumored to not want to move from LA to Vancouver, even for just a small part of the year, so it’s entirely possible that they are bringing gin a new journalist for Kara to work for in place of Cat Grant. Though, it’s doubtful they’ll get rid of Cat Grant, instead limiting her exposure to a couple episodes here and there.

Another name we think might be from the comics is that of “Maggie,” who is an “out and proud detective.” This sounds a lot like Maggie Sawyer, Kate Kane’s fiance. Kate Kane, by the by — Batwoman. So, maybe we can all cross our fingers that she makes an appearance in the series at some point!

And, finally, there’s a character simply known as “The Doctor,” who is the leader of Project Cadmus, experimenting on people with alien technology.
