Troubles have bubbled to the surface for Star Wars Episode IX. According to THR, Jack Thorne will be coming in for re-writes for Episode 9. Director and original writer for the movie, Colin Trevorrow, has been working on the script but apparently Thorne has been brought in.
Trevorrow has been under heavy fire due to his recent box office flop, The Book of Henry. With poor writing to blame, he’s been trying to put a positive spin on his work on the epic saga. It seems that Lucasfilm has the same concerns that fans have. Thorne comes in with his most notable work being the British teen drama, Skins and the wildly successful spin-off theater production, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. He’s also helped re-work Woyzeck for the stage, in which star John Boyega was also starring in.
We don’t know just how extensive the re-writes are. But we’re glad Lucasfilm has grabbed this situation seemingly early on in the process. Unlike their handling of the Han Solo film, they’re nipping this in the bud fast. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Trevorrow is still directing the film, as far as we know.
