Star Trek: Discovery is bringing on the point of view in new teasers released on their Twitter page this week.  In their continued promise to represent both sides of the war between Klingons and Starfleet that is central to their story; the show gives us a Starfleet teaser that does just that.  But, it doesn’t do only that.  It also gives us some AWESOME detail shots of weapons, uniforms and gear.

The teaser features the lead character of ST:D, First Officer Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green).  She’s got a message of peace and unity, heralding a ‘tradition of tolerance, freedom and justice’.  It’s in stark contrast to T’Kuvma’s message (linked above) in the partner teaser from the Klingon side.  The Klingons are ready to fight.  It’s clear that Starfleet will only fight if they have to.  She says, ‘We come on a mission to understand our world and ourselves better… We come in peace.’  But, I don’t think the Klingons are getting that message.  

Though that is a powerful message, and right along the lines of what we know Starfleet’s goals are, the truth is I had to watch the teaser a few times to hear all of the words.  That’s because the images are AMAZING!  You see details of the ‘new’ Starfleet uniform, tricorder, boots, a few crazy awesome phaser shots, communicator and the ‘new’ Starfleet badge. Bad-ge a$$.  It’s clear that they stayed true to using technology in line with what we see in TOS, but everything just looks cooler and sleeker… maybe it’s just the romantic lighting… but isn’t that exactly what you want?  

So, if you are a convention goer and your jonsing for some Star Trek: Discovery cosplay…  this teaser is a great place to get some inspiration.
