HBO announced it’s panels for SDCC Thursday, and there was a small surprise involved.   For the first time in a long time, HBO is bringing two series to San Diego; Game of Thrones (which we expected) and Westworld (which was a pleasant surprise).  They also announced offsite experiences for both shows during the convention.

This SDCC represents a first for the Game of Thrones series in that this is the first year the panel in San Diego coincides with a currently airing season of the show.  People like me are excited about this.  It affords us some expectation that they might release a glimpse at what’s coming down the line in Season 7, a sneak peak at an episode or a hint at the direction the show will take.  It’s so exciting!

Westworld‘s panel involves a large sample of cast members, and the offsite experience is called their ‘newest experience center’  and references the ‘classic’ experience with a new narrative called ‘Journey into Night’.  Might they tip their hat at  Samurai???
