Wolverine 3 has just cast British actor Richard E. Grant in their film.
While we still know virtually nothing about the film, we do know that Grant is playing “a villainous mad-scientist type” according to The Hollywood Reporter who initially reported the new casting.
Where else have you seen Grant? He’s been in Doctor Who, Dig and on HBO’s Girls. He had a very important role in the Jekyll & Hyde TV series.
But, who is the Mad Scientist? Wolverine has had his fair share of them, but it seems plausible to us that he is Dr. Abraham Cornelius, the man responsible for bonding the Adamantium to Wolverine’s skeleton and one of the main scientists in the Weapon X Program.
This could prove to be a stretch if the film does indeed end up being at some point in the future, but it does, at least, make sense that Fox would use their last film with Hugh Jackman to really bring the Weapon X story to a happy conclusion.
This seems to really match up, as well, with Boyd Holbrook apparently playing a Security Officer that is fully at odds with Wolverine. It is likely, in this scenario, that he would be one of the officers primarily responsible for keeping Wolverine in the facility — or was responsible, depending on when they place the story.
