Movie Review – LOGAN

LOGAN RUNS Logan by Paul Preston The Movie Guys Halfway through Logan, James Mangold’s take on the last adventures of Wolverine, elderly Charles Xavier is in a hotel room, hiding out from those who would like to end mutant-kind once and for all. He sits in the room with Laura, a young mutant, something he and Wolverine were not prepared to see again, and he watches Shane, the enduring Alan Ladd/Jack Palance western. This is fitting because Logan is very reflective of a classic western with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine as the gunslinger who’s seen bigger days making a last-ditch...

New LOGAN Video Sees Creation of Laura Kinney as X-23

If you weren’t already excited for the upcoming Fox film, Logan, then maybe this will do it for you. This morning, director James Mangold tweeted out a short .40 second teaser that looks like a found footage video from the Weapon-X facility. We should warn you that it’s actually pretty disturbing and that it feels like an old X-Files, secret government conspiracy sort of thing. In the video, simply titled “Laura.mov,” we see actress Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney in the Weapon-X facility being carted around the lab and being experimented on through very unpleasant operations. We see her...

New LOGAN Short Film is Most Tragic Look at Wolverine Yet

ONE LAST TIME FOR HUGH JACKMAN AS LOGAN! We’re just a month away from Logan hitting our theatres and, more than likely, causing all of us to hit the floor in tears because — c’mon, we all know there’s going to be some legitimate sadness in this film. That’s not a spoiler — that’s the very obvious clues given to us in the trailer! We’ve seen a clip from the film as well as two trailers now, but perhaps one of the best little pieces they’ve released is this one minute short that director James Mangold tweeted out this...

New LOGAN Spots Mark The End Of An Era

With one month to go, LOGAN is in full promotion swing. Now that we’ve seen the final trailer, it’s all TV spots from here! With our two first spots, it’s emphasized again that something is very wrong with Wolverine – he’s gotten too old. But there’s hope in one little girl that’s come into their life. In our first spot we’re reminded that the mutants are all gone. And while all the other mutants may be gone, there’s a new one and she needs Wolverine’s help. We also get our first lines from Caliban, played by Stephen Merchant. He...

New Poster for LOGAN Shows the Grittiest Wolverine Yet

It seems that every day we get some new bit of news for Logan which is just around the corner from being released by Fox Studios on March 3rd. Thankfully, today is no different as we’ve got a new poster out for the film and it might be our grittiest look yet at Old Man Logan. In it, we see a world-weary Logan, as played by Hugh Jackman, staring down whatever threat’s in front of him. You can see a sort of reserved rage in him, as if he’s charging himself up to lash out at his enemies but he...

Joe Quesada Talks About Drawing the Comics for the Upcoming Film, LOGAN

Think back to the new Logan trailer we got last week. In that trailer, got our first hint that the X-Men comics exist when we saw Logan flipping through the pages of an X-Men comic. He says of them, “Got ourselves an X-Men fan.” He then laments, “Maybe a quarter of it happened… And not like this.”  As he says this, the camera cuts to a close up of one of the pages from the comic. This is a page drawn specifically for the film by the legendary Joe Quesada. Here’s what the man himself had to say...

New LOGAN Pictures Show X-23 Kicking Ass!

New images from LOGAN smacked the internet today and boy am I getting more excited for this film. Empire released 4 exclusive images from the upcoming film and it shows our ragtag group mostly in mid-action. X-23 gets 2 of those images to herself and she’s looking fierce as hell. From the latest trailer, we see that Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and X-23, real name Laura Kinney (Dafne Keen), start to form an almost father/daughter relationship. They, along with an ailing Professor X, are on the run from Reavers who are hunting down the little X-23. She is certainly Wolverine’s shadow as...

Two New LOGAN Trailers Give Us the Father/Daughter Relationship of Wolverine and X-23

The new trailer for Logan, Fox Studio’s last Wolverine film starring Hugh Jackman, hit the internet this morning. With the first trailer, we got an idea of the somewhat somber, dramatic and tragic tone of this film. Logan and the Professor (Patrick Stewart) have lost a lot in their day; now they’re hiding out and, essentially, just waiting to die in peace. However, this trailer is hyper-focused on the character of the feral Laura Kinney (Dafne Keen) and the father-daughter bond that develops between her and Logan. It seems, for all intents and purposes, that this relationship is the...

LOGAN Postcards for #OneLastTime Campaign Have Gone Out!

A couple weeks ago it was announced that Fox Studios was doing a pretty unique marketing campaign for their upcoming Marvel film, Logan. The film purports to be the very last time Hugh Jackman will ever take up the claws of everyone’s favorite berserking mutant, Wolverine. He’s been in the X-Men franchise since 2000. Babies born when he first took on the role can now drive cars. So, yeah, he’s done the role for long enough. The marketing campaign was called 1974 Frames of Logan. The idea behind it is that 1,974 people signed up for the campaign and...

We’ve Got a New Synopsis for Hugh Jackman’s LOGAN

Hugh Jackman’s last ride as the berserking mutant with adamantium claws, Wolverine, is almost upon us. That film, Logan, hits theatres on March 3 of this year and, as promised by director James Mangold, will feature the most grounded take on the character yet. In fact, audiences who were treated to the first 40 minutes of the film last month loved it, saying that they felt like this was a Logan they could meet on the streets. We’ve known for some time now that the film takes place in a somewhat dystopian future with Logan watching over Professor X (Patrick Stewart), only...
