New READY PLAYER ONE Images Show Bleak Real World and a Look at Avatars

Before Stranger Things ushered in a wave of 80’s nostalgia porn, author Ernest Cline released his instant classic Ready Player One. Since its release in 2011, society has been drifting towards the reality in the dystopian novel. Most people are locked on their phones and barely make eye contact with others (um, myself included), net neutrality may be taken away from us and the middle class is being threatened. Not all can escape into virtual reality, YET, but we can make ourselves who we wish we were on social media. Take that and turn it up to 11, and you...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Will Have a Cameo in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

Not a big surprise here but still fun to know! Director and writer Rian Johnson was in Japan today doing press for his latest film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. While he was able to share a few things we already know with the Japanese fans, he also confirmed a cameo. With thanks to SWNN, we now know that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will make an appearance in The Last Jedi. Not a typical cameo, however. According to Johnson, he’ll be voicing an alien. There’s no indication if his role will be larger like Simon Pegg or small like Daniel Craig, but...

SDCC 2017: THE WALKING DEAD Tributes, Season 8 Trailer and a Look Back at the First 99 Episodes

The Walking Dead is one of the most electrifying panels of SDCC.  And this year was no different.   The cast and producers return to SDCC for the fans and to pay tribute to stuntman John Bernecker and George Romero. “John passed away this week after he was injured doing something he loved: helping tell stories that excite, entertain, and give people escape,” Showrunner Scott Gimple said. “He helped make movies and shows for people like everybody in this room. John was someone who was beloved in the stunt community, who helped train people and helped them break  into the...

Watch This Calming Live Stream From The International Space Station

This live stream from the International Space Station began in October and I wish I had discovered it before. It probably would have been helpful in that last, hectic, quarter of 2016. RELATED: Simon Pegg Talks To NASA Astronaut Kate Rubin! The ISS is home to American, Japanese, Canadian, and European astronauts, as well as Russian cosmonauts, and its a stunning view of Earth from space, 240 miles above the planet. The comment feed is kind of cool as well, since it’s on a global scale, you can chat with people all over the Earth you’re looking at, in that very moment. If...

The Sexual Politics of Movies 2016

The Sexual Politics for Movies in 2016 IMHO by Chris Morris “It’s getting better” seems to be what the internet tells me. All the time. Women are starring in major blockbusters and not only that, but they are directing them too! We finally have a Wonder Woman movie coming out, directed by Patty Jenkins. A Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel movie! Still no Black Widow, but still…Captain Marvel! The all-female Ghostbusters came out and the world didn’t end! Suicide Squad’s star isn’t Will Smith’s Deadshot but really it’s Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. The new Star Trek Beyond had more female speaking...

It’s Confirmed…. Idris Elba Will Be At San Diego Comic-Con!

According to the SDCC Unofficial Blog, Variety’s SDCC party list confirms that Idris Elba will be in town for the Star Trek: Beyond premiere! Idris is the main villain, by the name of Krall,  in the latest Star Trek movie, penned by fellow castmate Simon Pegg and his writing partner, Doug Jung. What we now about Krall, from this latest TV spot for Beyond, is that he seems to be human at one point, and has since transformed: Eek, Idris could honestly, do absolutely nothing, I mean nothing, and I would watch him for two hours. Not weird at all. Check out this featurette about Krall: Idris Elba is currently in production for Stephen King’s Dark Tower.  Star Trek: Beyond opens in wide release this...

Sulu Is Openly Gay in Star Trek: Beyond According to John Cho

Star Trek has beaten Star Wars in the race (yes, there was a race according to some hardcore fans) to have the first openly gay character. While we all hope that one day sexual orientation in fictional characters won’t be so headline grabbing, today is not that day. In fact, today we can celebrate. Star Trek has always been known and praised for bringing political and philosophical issues to the big and small screens so it is with much pride that they are continuing that mission. John Cho, who plays Hikaru Sulu in the reboot movies (also called the...
