Exciting Outlander news out this week. ‘BreeWatch’ is no more as the much anticipated casting of Brianna is now complete. The role of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) daughter has been won by English actress Sophie Skelton. Brianna is a striking, redheaded young lady, strong-minded and intelligent beyond her years, these traits inherited from both her mother and father, with a distinctly scholastic mind-set and a healthy dose of Fraser stubbornness.

This casting follows Richard Rankin landing the role of  Roger Wakefield, the adult version of Reverend Wakefield’s son (Remember him in from last season?). Wakefield has important ties to Brianna. For those of you Outlander book fans, you know when Brianna appears – the rest of us will have to wait with bated breath.

In Season 2 of Starz Outlander, we’ll find Claire and Jamie arriving in France, hell-bent on infiltrating the Jacobite rebellion led by Prince Charles Stuart, and stopping the disastrous Battle of Culloden before it happens. With the help of his cousin Jared, a local wine merchant, Jamie and Claire are thrown into the lavish world of French society, where intrigue and parties are abundant, but political gain proves far less fruitful. Altering the course of history presents challenges that begin to weigh on the very fabric of their relationship. However, armed with the knowledge of what lies ahead, Claire and Jamie must race to prevent a doomed Highland uprising, and the extinction of Scottish life as they know it.

Season 2 premieres this April on Starz
