We’re getting more from the television side of DC. According to EW, the team behind Gotham has developed a new series based on characters in Metropolis before Superman arrives. Showrunners John Stephens and Danny Cannon received a direct-to-series, 13 episode first season. The show is set to debut on DC’s new digital service sometime in 2019. And guys, I’m a bit concerned.

According to the article, the series will follow Lois Lane and Lex Luthor teaming up and “investigating the world of fringe science and expose the city’s dark and bizarre secrets”. The series will be the 4th to join the streaming service with the live-action Titans already scheduled and two animated series. This will also be the second Superman prequel series, with Krypton set to premiere on SyFy this spring.

I might’ve been on board with the concept, if it weren’t Lex Luthor and Lois Lane. It seems to be a fairly bizarre pairing. Given that Lane is a journalist and Luthor is heavily into science, it’s sort of there but I just can’t buy the two of them teaming up. I can always be proven wrong! Also, given that it’s by the team of Gotham, (whose handling of Batman characters I’ve greatly disliked) I’m even more disheartened. But as I said, I can be proven wrong. They just really need to blow me away with this series.

What do you think? Are you on board or are you skeptical? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more DC TV news. The unnamed prequel series will debut sometime in 2019.
