Our favorite mustachioed private eye from the 80’s is getting some new attention.  CBS is making a Magnum P.I. reboot pilot with Hawaii 5-O producers Peter Lenkov and Eric Guggenheim.

Your first question is going to be, ‘Will Tom Selleck be involved?’  It was mine, too.  And, it looks like the answer is most likely no.  Though, according to Deadline, Selleck “gave the project his blessing.”  Your second question should be, ‘Will the mustache live on?’  Answer: TBD.  The actors playing Magnum and his crew have not yet been announced.  But, we do know that Higgins will now be a female character; Juliet Higgins.  This is good news.  If this show is going to get an update, then let’s do it right!

The context of Magnum’s very important work out of Hawaii will also be updated for the times.  Here’s the description given by Deadline

The new Magnum P.I. follows Thomas Magnum, a decorated ex-Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator. With help from fellow vets Theodore “TC” Calvin and Orville “Rick” Wright, as well as that of disavowed former MI:6 agent Juliet Higgins, Magnum takes on the cases no one else will, helping those who have no one else to turn to. Action, adventure and comedy aside, Magnum P.I. will also explore a brotherhood forged by the trauma of combat, what it means to return home an ex-soldier, and a commitment to continuing to serve while in the private sector.

There’s no official timeline for when we might see Magnum grace our TV screens again.  Stay with Geek Girl Authority for updates.
