In 2011, in a bit for Comic Relief, James Corden asked George Michael to be his guest and of course, he complied. In this version, Corden appears as his character, Smithy, from a British sitcom he starred in called Gavin and Stacey.
James Corden tweeted this:
I've loved George Michael for as long as I can remember. He was an absolute inspiration. Always ahead of his time.

From the days of Wham! to his solo career, George Michael brought joy to so many people, and because of his outspoken stance for the LGBTQ community, he was a role model and represented courage to be your authentic self.
Michael’s publicist released this statement:
“It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period,” the statement read. “The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage.”
