Ian McShane

Ian McShane will be joining Game of Thrones for Season 6. Now let us all scream out a collective HUZZAH! McShane is known for his evil, magnetic and often Shakespearean portrayal of Al Swearengen on HBO’s Deadwood. (Brilliant show. If you haven’t seen it, you must add it to your Binge Watch Cue). He’s also been seen in Pillars of the Earth, Kings and American Horror Story among many, many others.

If you’re a fan of McShane already, this is exciting news. He’s the kind of actor that’s born to play a part in Game of Thrones. EW is saying that the role has a small amount of screen time but is of  “key importance.” Winter Is Coming.net has their own prediction that, if true, is very exciting:

…I would hazard a guess that Ian McShane will be portraying Randyll Tarly, father of Sam. Lord Tarly is the Lord of Horn Hill and the head of House Tarly. He wields House Tarly’s ancestral Valyrian steel greatsword, Heartsbane, which he carries in a scabbard across his back. He is described as one of the finest battle commanders in all of Westeros, and is a man of iron will.
