HBO Films to Adapt FAHRENHEIT 451

Deadline announced that HBO Films will be adapting the dystopian Ray Bradbury novel, Fahrenheit 451.

Michael Shannon and Michael B. Jordan are attached to star, with Jordan also serving as executive producer through his company Outlier Productions. Ramin Bahrani is co-writing the film with Amir Naderi with Bahrani directing, as well.

This iconic novel, published in 1953, is about a  future American society where books are outlawed and “firemen” burn any that are found.

Jordan will play Montag, a young fireman who forsakes his world, battles his mentor and struggles to regain his humanity. Shannon will play Beatty, Montag’s fireman captain and mentor.

The novel has been adapted into many incarnations from a feature film to radio drama to plays and it will be interesting and exciting to see this updated version. Socially and culturally, it’s pretty significant timing for this subject matter and I’m sure will be very impactful.
