According to a joint press release out of Fox and FX studios today, we can all cross our fingers for a couple different X-Men properties to make their way to television! This goes perfectly hand-in-hand with the announcement from FX that they’ll be tackling Brian K. Vaughan’s Y: The Last Man.

background

From FX, we have a series presumably called Legion, based on the character David Haller, who is Professor Charles Xavier’s son. He doesn’t really have a super power so much as he has a thousand Schizophrenic personalities that each have a completely different power, all of them very powerful. Among these personalties are Moira, a psychic who can warp reality, and Delphic, a seer of omniscient power who will answer three questions for you.

The show is being developed by Fargo showrunner, Noah Hawley, for FX.

The official description of the show as put forth by the press release is, “Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.”

The other show in development is Hellfire, at Fox, with Evan Katz & Manny Coto (24) and Patrick McKay & John D. Payne (Star Trek Beyond) producing and developing it.

The show itself will be set in the 60’s and will “Follow a young special agent who learns of that a power-hungry woman with extraordinary abilities is working with a clandestine society of millionaires — known as ‘The Hellfire Club’ — to take over the world.”

If you’re an X-Men fan at all, you definitely know all about the Hellfire Club. They are the club that brought Emma Frost into the lives of the X-Men, who sought out the world-destroying power of the cosmic entity known as The Phoenix Force and have been a very large thorn in the side of the mutants since their introduction in 1980’s X-Men #129. Their ranks have included the aforementioned Emma Frost – a powerful telepath, Sebastian Shaw – powerful mutant who is made more powerful with every punch to his body, Donald Pierce – a cybernetically enhanced human of extrordinary strength and Harry Leland, who could manipulate the mass of anyone in close proximity.

Fox Broadcasting President David Madden said in the press release, “We are thrilled to partner with Marvel to bring this world to television and build upon the vibrant mythology that has captivated fans for years. These powerful and dynamic characters are complicated and larger-than-life, the pace and visual imagination are unrelenting, and the story takes place during one of the most explosive eras in recent history. We are so looking forward to working with this incredibly talented team.”

Bryan Singer and Jeph Loeb are both listed as producers on both series.
