Sad news today. Emmy-winning actor Powers Boothe has died; aged 68 years. The news came from Boothe’s friend Beau Bridges on Twitter, Sunday. Bridges tweeted that Boothe was a “a dear friend, great actor, devoted father & husband.” It was reported that he died of “natural causes”. All of this, according to Deadline.
Powers Boothe was an experienced and well renowned actor, known for his roles as Cy Tolliver in Deadwood, Curly Bill Brocious in Tombstone, and he won his Emmy for his role in Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones. His position in Geekdom was solidified with his roles in Sin City and most recently, The Avengers and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Boothe was a great character actor in any respect, but he was really one of the best bad guys on screen. For me, he will live forever as the scoundrel Cy Tolliver. His dynamic and terrifying role in one of the best TV shows ever made will endure. His fans can take heart in the fact that they can continue to see his incredible performances over and over again.
