“Jane’s giving the pep talk? That’s where we’re at?”

Doomies, the end is nigh, and it’s weird as f*ck. Finally, we have a premiere date for Doom Patrol‘s final episodes and a new trailer. Season 4B comes after the first half ended on January 5 with the sixth episode, “Hope Patrol.”

Here’s the logline for the show’s mid-season:

“In the series’ gripping final episodes, the Doom Patrol meet old friends and foes as they race to defeat Immortus and get back their longevities. Battling between saving the world and each other, the Doom Patrol are forced to face their deepest fears and decide if they are ready to let go of the past in order to take their future into their own hands… and away from the zombie butts.”

The trailer opens with Laura (Michelle Gomez) informing Jane (Diane Guerrero), a human Cliff (Brendan Fraser), Larry (Matt Bomer/Matthew Zuk), Rita (April Bowlby), Vic (Joivan Wade) and Casey (Madeline Zima) that they’re a superhero team called the Doom Patrol. Naturally, the gang breaks out into raucous laughter. They’re all wearing Christmas sweaters, which, why wouldn’t they be? At least we know Dorothy (Abi Monterey) and Casey successfully arrive at Doom Manor.

What transpires next is a fever dream of former Doom Patrol adversaries, vicious Were-butts, a surprise appearance from the Chief (Timothy Dalton) and a human-looking Larry. Additionally, we see Rita urge the group to unite for one final mission to retrieve their longevities and vanquish Immortus.

I’m sad to see this wonderfully kooky, irreverent, raunchy, surreal and genre-bending series end. What other show will give you feral werewolf/zombie butts and sex ghosts? It flew under the radar for its entire run and deserved a larger platform. I hope these characters appear in future DC properties.

Doom Patrol Season 4B premieres with two new episodes on Thursday, October 12, 2023, with one episode dropping weekly through November 9, only on Max. Check out the official poster and trailer below.

What do you hope to see in these final episodes? Sound off in the comments!
