JOHN HURT Passes Away at 77

Our Doctor, our wandmaker, our dragon passed away today at age 77. John Hurt had been battling cancer and intestinal problems, but was cleared by his doctors just two years ago. When asked how he felt about death after receiving the good news, he was quoted saying, “I can’t say I worry about mortality, but it’s impossible to get to my age and not have a little contemplation of it. We’re all just passing time, and occupy our chair very briefly.” […]

Fantastic Beasts Are Real and Here’s Where to Find Them!

That’s right! Scientists are helping us Potterheads find some pretty magical creatures IRL. Most recently, a new species of crab has been discovered living in deep, dark coral graveyards in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Guam. Biologists have named the crab Harryplax severus, a nod to two of J.K. Rowling’s beloved characters, Harry Potter and Severus Snape. It also happens that the initial research for this discovery was by a man named Harry Conley. The two biologists, Jose […]

Russian Hackers Are Trying to Ruin Sherlock!

Russia has been a hot topic lately in the political headlines in the U.S., but thanks to some nerdy hackers the country is infiltrating the Sherlock fandom, too. The fourth season of Sherlock will be coming to a close tomorrow night with a third episode that could also mark a series finale as well. “The Final Problem” is set to air on Sunday, 1/15 at 7/6c. However, a few days ago, the British Film Institute in the UK held a […]

Emma Watson or Justin Bieber? Disney’s New Belle Doll Gets Mixed Reviews

With every great Disney movie comes loads of merchandise and the upcoming live action version of Beauty and the Beast is no different. We still have a couple of months to go before the big premiere but in anticipation of the release, Disney has come out with several toys based on the characters in their new film. While the animated character version of similar toys have been around for years, the newer incarnations of say, Funko Pop dolls, have been heavily influenced […]

EW Readers: Settlers of Catan is NOT Monopoly!

The board game community has been kicked in the gut by a single phrase, “think Monopoly.” Awards season kicked off last night with the Golden Globes and you can be sure those VIP after parties were on point.  But while probably all of Hollywood was dancing the night away, one of my favorite celebrity couples, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, did just what I would do: GAME NIGHT! Kristen Bell shared an adorable photo on her Instagram of the pair setting […]

Don’t Blink! Just eat this DOCTOR WHO Weeping Angel pancake

Amazing pancake artists, Dr. Dan and Hank of YouTube’s Dancakes, are trying to kill us. Or at least zap us back in time and space. Their latest video shows a time-lapse of the creation of a weeping angel pancake. Using colored batter and a hot griddle, these two Dancake dudes are able to make some pretty whimsical designs. They’ve also drawn out all 13 Doctors including 8.5, a.k.a The War Doctor, and everyone’s favorite Tardis just to name a few. Each […]

Buffy the Vampire Slayer The Board Game was set to arrive around the beginning of November but a few shipping and manufacturing glitches later and it got here just in time for Christmas! Late birthday gift = perfectly timed Christmas present! Woohoo! The game is cooperative and as such can be […]

Axis of Awesome Spins a DOCTOR WHO/DUCKTALES Mashup to Honor David Tennant

If you’re like me, you probably squeed your little heart out when David Tennant popped up at the end. To honor the former Doctor’s addition to the DuckTales cast, Axis of Awesome has released their own version of the theme mixed with some super-fun Whovian references. Enjoy the video below! Widow’s Walk – Time to Expand the Betrayal!

~Missy Dawes Ah, All Hallows’ Eve. A ghoulish time of year that in my house can only mean one thing: GAME NIGHT! Typically, we gather our friends and play one of our all-time favorite board games, Betrayal at House on the Hill. This year, however, we were treated to a brand sparkling new expansion for the game, Widow’s Walk. The expansion includes new room tiles, which allow you to explore the previously unrevealed roof, new action (event, item, omen) cards […]

    SuperWhoMerLock – I Never Had a Chance

~Missy Dawes I didn’t choose the fandom life, the fandom life called me a clotpole, told me to get the salt and come to 221B then grabbed my hand and whispered, “Run.” For me, it all started with Doctor Who. Back when it could still be viewed on streaming platforms before all our lives were ruined it was removed. I began with the 2005 Christopher Eccleston version and slowly became obsessed. The show originated long ago as a children’s […]
