Sherlock series 4 is set to premiere, as is the tradition, on January 1st. That’s THREE DAYS AWAY!
Deadline reports that creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss (Mycroft Holmes) joined cast members Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and Amanda Abbington at a screening of episode 1 of the new season in London recently. At a Q&A there, the group had a lot of curious things to say about what is in store for Sherlock and his crew.
While there was additional confirmation that the show will continue to get darker, as has been the trend, and was alluded to at Comic-Con this summer, there was also talk about the humanization of Sherlock. Apparently, Sherlock’s edge is softening, while Watson’s is a getting a bit sharper. Or, as the group put it, “Dickless Holmes, More Of A Dick Watson.” Cumberbatch responded quickly with, “Not dick-less!”
The director of episode one, the cantakerous bloodhound they had to work with, and their role in ‘The Golden Age of Television’ were also addressed in the interview.
When it came to the BIG question… Will Sherlock continue after Series 4? The answers were cryptic. Nobody wants to say yes or no, and all seem to truly enjoy and care for the project, but the words of Benedict Cumberbatch in his GQ interview from earlier this year echo in all of our ears. He said in that interview that this season, “might be the end of an era,”.
All we can do is cross our fingers and pay attention. In the meantime, we have three days until the game is on.
Actor, Improviser, Comic.
I like to like things and talk about them.
I like to pretend.
I like to make things.
I like to write things down.
