With Comic Con coming next week, we’ve got some new pictures for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, released by Warner Bros. This is all through EW Online and their big Comic Con Preview Special.

First off, we’ve got the DC Trinity gracing the front cover of the magazine with Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman right in the middle between Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman.

You can’t have heroes without a good villain. Here we’ve got Jesse Eisenberg as Superman’s most iconic nemesis, Lex Luther, with a full head of hair. Whether or not this is a wig, a la Gene Hackman, or the character starts off with hair and ends up bald, or, never is actually bald, that all remains to be seen.

Next we’ve got a bigger picture of Henry Cavill’s Superman being gently caressed by those people in weird Halloween make-up. They all look to be worshiping him like a god, which seems to be a big theme with this film.

Here we’ve got Batman in his Bat-Armor standing next to his Bat-Signal, all of which appears to be very heavily influenced by Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns. He even appears to have those glowing eyes that we’ve seen in the trailer.

Here we’ve got Bruce Wayne and Diana, or Batman and Wonder Woman if you will, and it appears that they are dancing. At the very least, they are at some social event, presumably in Wayne Manor, having a whispered exchange of some sort. Does Batman know who she is? Does she know who he is?

In the EW article, Ben Affleck equates Batman to the American version of Hamlet, saying, “We accept that he’s played by actors with different interpretations.” He goes on to say of Bruce Wayne’s mental state, “He’s at the end of his run and maybe the end of his life. There’s this sort of world-weariness to it.” We can see this in the picture, with Bruce having the sides of his head graying. He’s defended Gotham for 20 years and it’s taken it’s toll.

Interestingly, this same article gives a brief description of Wayne Manor, saying it’s “little more than a desolate husk, overtaken by weeds and water-stains after years of neglect.”

Staying with Batman, in this pic we can see Ben Affleck, as Bruce Wayne, on set with Zack Snyder, the film’s director, discussing a shot. There is a lot of destruction around them and Affleck is not in his Bat-Suit, so it’s safe to assume that this is destruction caused by someone else, presumably a fight involving Superman, or it’s some event that Bruce Wayne is now revisiting.

Finally, no series of pics would be complete without a shot of Batman and Superman squaring off. It is called Batman v. Superman after all…

Seriously, how exciting is this shot?

In Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theatres May of 2016.
