Movie Review- THE BIG SICK

Romantic comedies tend to blend together. In recent years, the once likable genre morphed into the subject of mockery. Generic plots, sub-par performances, and forced marketing are all associated with the “rom com”. In a 2017 which has ran the film gamut from really good to especially bad, The Big Sick stands out as a darling of the summer. The Judd Apatow produced comedy shows that when done right, a romantic comedy can not only bring meet-cutes and laughs, but also emotional weight.  The Big Sick chronicles the love story of the Nerdist Industries own lovebirds, stand-up comedian Kumail Nanjiani (played...

The Coolest Show in L.A. – HEADCAN(N)ON Is Happening Thursday!

You are nerds like we are. You like pop culture like we do. You even like game shows! So if you are in Southern California, we highly recommend that you see HEADCAN(N)ON Thursday, November 10th, at The Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown. I’ve seen this show myself and it is truly hilarious and incredibly clever with some wonderful audience interaction. The show I happened to see had none other than Wil Wheaton as a guest. I now can rest my head at night knowing that I saw Wil Wheaton crush some improv (see what I did there). Hosted by Joseph Scrimshaw (you’ve...

The Villains in Wolverine 3 Will Be …….

~Matt Key Hugh Jackman is returning as Wolverine one last time next March and not a lot is known about our Adamantium-clawed, berserker-prone mutant’s final film. According to nerd news site, The Nerdist, we know three things for certain: it’s R-rated, it’s set in the future and Boyd Holbrook plays an original character that is a “relentless, calculating… intense head of security for a global enterprise.” But now, in an exclusive with Nerdist, they believe they’ve got the major villains locked down — The Reavers! The Reavers are cybernetic soldiers created by major X-Men villain, Donald Pierce, himself a...

Whoo Hoo! 3 episodes of the Mystery Science Theater revival are a go! Getting Ready for San Diego Comic Con 2015!

Getting Ready for San Diego Comic-Con 2015! By Chris Morris Coming up, this will be my 3rd San Diego Comic-Con. I previously attended in 2010 and 2014. I’m not exactly a veteran compared to the people who are going for the 27th time, but I think know my way around. I remember scouring the internet in the days before my 1st Comic-Con looking for tips and advise. And believe me, there are some awesome articles out there that are much better at describing the San Diego Comic Con experience. But you’re here now and I’m betting you are here to stay, at least for a paragraph or two. There will be lots of people going for the 1st time and here are some tips for the newbies, or even people who are thinking of going in 2016 or 2017. – Step one: get tickets. *Seriously, if you don’t have tickets… **No really…if you don’t have tickets, you can still enjoy San Diego and the Comic Con experience…no fooling! You just can’t go into the Convention Center, but Comic Con itself has become so massive that you literally don’t need to attend the actual Comic-Con to enjoy Comic-Con, if that makes sense. Skip down to Part #5 to see what I mean. For the rest of you, the ones with tickets but have never been before, read on… – Step...

Chris Morris’ Favorite Podcasts!

By Chris Morris My day-job consists of lots and lots of driving. One record trip for my job required me driving over 6,000 kms there and back (which is 3,700 miles according to Google for you Americans reading this). Now, during the summer, I still commute one hour to work and then one hour home. I’m not sure if I would have been able to keep my sanity (such as it is) if not for music, audio books and of course, podcasts. Podcasts have become a very important factor in my life. I even have one (although really doesn’t...
