FIRST LOOK AT A BAMFING NIGHTCRAWLER!

~Matt Key Director Bryan Singer released this first look at Nightcrawler yesterday for the upcoming film X-Men: Apocalpyse. The iconic character who can transport from place to place is played by young actor Kodi Smit-McPhee and he looks great. Though, it doesn’t really sound like the iconic bamf we’ve come to love from the comics, it’s just a preview video, not the actual film, so we can’t really judge their handling of the character just yet. You might remember Nightcrawler from what is still, quite possibly, one of the best super power sequences in a comic book movie yet...

A Personal Reflection on the Life and Contributions of Len Wein

It’s 1992. I’m in Middle School, arguably the worst three years of any child’s life — they certainly were for me. But the beginning of something new would start for me that year that would inexplicably impact the rest of my life — the premiere of the X-Men Animated Series. Premiering in October of that year, close to my birthday, I was introduced to Beast, Jubilee, Cyclops, Gambit, Rogue, Jean Grey and others, not fully realizing that these outcast mutant heroes would play a role in introducing me to comics and changing the direction of my life. Among those...

Movie Review – LOGAN

LOGAN RUNS Logan by Paul Preston The Movie Guys Halfway through Logan, James Mangold’s take on the last adventures of Wolverine, elderly Charles Xavier is in a hotel room, hiding out from those who would like to end mutant-kind once and for all. He sits in the room with Laura, a young mutant, something he and Wolverine were not prepared to see again, and he watches Shane, the enduring Alan Ladd/Jack Palance western. This is fitting because Logan is very reflective of a classic western with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine as the gunslinger who’s seen bigger days making a last-ditch...

X-Men: Apocalypse Deleted Scene Gives Us Everything We Hoped to See in the Film

~Matt Key See. This here is what we all want to see in an X-Men movie. Team building. Friendship. Camaraderie. That’s not to say we don’t love seeing Cyclops tear things up with his optic beams or Nightcrawler bamfing all over the place or Storm shooting lightning from the skies. Of course we love that stuff. The problem is that we want to see all of that stuff in the context of a team that, though they may have their interpersonal conflicts here and there, they love each other and work together as a team. That is, we want...
