Yesterday, the rumor broke out that director and DC Comics wonder boy, Zack Snyder, met with HBO to discuss a Watchmen TV series.

Discuss.

As HBO said in a statement they released to The Hollywood Reporter,

“Preliminary discussions regarding Watchmen have occurred, but we have no additional information and no deals are in place.”

There’s no deal in place yet, no idea of the direction released, how they’ll expand the source material or if it will include the prequel series publisher, DC Comics, put out a couple years ago. All we know is that HBO is interested enough to talk to Zack Snyder about it.

Why Zack Snyder? That would be because he has a strong familiarity with the characters and stories since he directed the 2008 film, The Watchmen. However, his involvement in the series will most likely be limited seeing as he’s one of the primary architects behind WB’s DC extended universe, with Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the Justice League movies to create following that.
